Day 1: Arrival in Stralsund
Travellers are responsible for their own transportation to Stralsund. Stroll around town and view the spectacular points of interest such as the Gothic churches, the town hall, and tower gables. Stay overnight.
Day 2: Stralsund – Putbus
Distance: approx 45 km / 28 mi
Cycle through South Rügen to the “white city” of Putbus and spend the night there.
Day 3: Putbus – Granitz
Distance: approx 20 km / 12 mi
Cycle past quaint farm houses and through tranquil landscape to the resort towns. Spend the night in either Sellin or Binz, or nearby.
Day 4: Granitz – Jasmund
Distance: approx 40 km / 25 mi
The cycling paths take you through Prora to Mukran along the Baltic Sea Beach. From Mukran, continue on through the flintstone fields, also called “The Stony Sea”, towards Jasmund National Park. Stay the night on Jasmund Peninsula.
Day 5: Jasmund – Wittow
Distance: approx 40-45 km / 25-28 mi
In the hilliest part of the island is ‘Königsstuhl’, a 117 m / 384 ft high chalk cliff. Cycle through the deciduous woods of Jasmund National Park. Take in the beauty of glorious panoramas of island and sea. Spend the night on peninsulas Jasmund or Wittow.
Day 6: Hiddensee – Stralsund
Distance: approx 25 km / 16 mi
Take the ferry from Wittow to Island Hiddensee, a tranquil island where no cars are allowed and cyclists are “King”. Take the ferry to Stralsund in the afternoon and spend the night there.
Day 7: Stralsund – Barth
Distance: approx 45 km / 28 mi
Today’s paths take you over landscape formed during the Ice Age. Enjoy the scenery of Baltic Sea inlets. Stay overnight in Barth or Zingst.
Day 8: Barth – Darss
Distance: approx 25 km / 16 mi
Cycle over the dam to the old swing bridge on Barth Bay, where the nature reserve, ‘Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft’, begins. Admire wind bent trees, rare flora and fauna, endemic to the area. Continue on through the seaman’s village, Prerow, to the lighthouse called ‘Darsser Ort’. Spend the night on the Peninsula.
Day 9: Darss – Fischland
Be enamoured by the unique formations on the forested beach. Make your way through the Darsser Forest to Ahrenshoop, an artist colony on the peninsula. You will pass Wustrow, once a sailor’s village, now a sea side resort town. Spend the night on the peninsula.
Day 10: Fischland – Stralsund
Distance: approx 30-90 km / 19-56 mi
It is worth visiting the open air Folk Museum in Klockenhagen and the Amber Museum in Ribnitz-Damgarten. Cycle the beautiful avenues past old farmsteads and manor houses, through small villages with cottages and stables. The surroundings offer romantic solitude and particular beauty. The paths lead you to the Saaler Bodden Inlet to Barth and on to Stralsund. You can take the train from Ribnitz-Damgarten, Barth or Velgast to Stralsund, if you like (fares not included in tour price). Stay overnight in Stralsund.
Day 11: Departure from Stralsund
