Day 1: Arrival in Klaipėda

Travellers are responsible for their own transportation to Klaipėda. You may want to check out the Scandinavian airline, SAS, which flies through Copenhagen to Palanga. Transfer from there to Klaipėda and spend the night.


Day 2: Klaipėda – Palanga – Klaipėda
Distance: approx 55 km / 34 mi

Pick up your rental bike in the morning and cycle through the Baltic Sea Regional Park to Palanga.


Day 3: Klaipėda – Priekulė – Šilutė
Distance: approx 65 km / 40 mi

Cycle on country roads through gardens in Deltuva and through Curonian meadows to Šilutė. Cross the 24 km / 15 mi long Klaipėda Canal (King Wilhelm). The canal was built in the 19th century to connect the Minija River in the delta with the Curonian Lagoon in Klaipėda. Spend the night in Šilutė.


Day 4: Šilutė – Island Rusnė – Šilutė
Distance: approx 45 km / 28 mi

Relax today in Šilutė, Lithuania’s fifth largest city. Or take an excursion to Rusnė, Lithuania’s largest island. It is a part of the Klaipėda Delta Regional Park. Visit ethnographic fishing houses in the Rusnė Museum, the old pumping station, the polder museum, and the 19th century lighthouse on the Uostadvaris harbour. Spend the night in Šilutė.


Day 5: Šilutė – Macikai – Kintai – Ventė – Nida
Distance: approx 45 km / 28 mi

Cycle through Macikai (known for the German author H. Sudermann Museum) to the Ventės Ragas Spit. If you like you can visit the ornithological bird station and the 19th century lighthouse. Take the ferry from Ventė across the Curonian Lagoon to Nida and spend the night there.


Day 6: Nida

Cycle near the resort town of Nida or take a walk on the sand dunes. Nida is the largest town in Neringa and one of Lithuania’s most beautiful resort towns. The famous sights in Nida are the old fishing houses, the Amber Gallery of Mažeikiai, the Thomas-Mann-House, the old cemetery with peculiar crosses and high dunes. Spend the night in Nida.


Day 7: Nida – Juodkrantė – Klaipėda
Distance: approx 60 km / 37 mi

Cycle in direction Juodkrantė, stop at the “Dead Dunes” of Pervalka and admire the breathtaking view onto the spit and sea. There are typical old villas to be seen in Juodkrantė and bizarre wooden sculptures from Lithuanian legends on the “Witches’ Mountain”. Take the ferry from Smiltynė to Klaipėda. Turn in your rental bike. Spend the night in Klaipėda.


Day 8: Departure from Klaipėda

Depart after breakfast. Travellers are responsible for their homeward transportation.
