Day 1: Arrival in Hamburg

Arrive in the metropolis of Hamburg. Your hotel is located in the city centre and not far from the cycling trail. Explore the diversity this beautiful city has to offer.


Day 2: Hamburg – Elmshorn
Distance: approx 55 km / 34 mi

Cycle along the Elbe River, through Blankensee, and to Wedel. Continue through marshland protected by dikes, through Uetersen, and to Elmshorn. Spend the night there.


Day 3: Elmshorn – Brunsbüttel
Distance: approx 55 km / 34 mi

Cycle to the charming small town of Glückstadt and to Brunsbüttel. The Kiel Canal begins in Brunsbüttel. The lock is definitely worth seeing. Spend the night in Brunsbüttel.


Day 4: Brunsbüttel – Büsum
Distance: approx 50 km / 31 mi

Once you have past the dikes, you will see the Wadden Sea. Cross the vast ‘Dithmarscher Land’ towards North Frisia. You’ll soon reach Büsum. Stay overnight in or near Büsum.


Day 5: Büsum – Husum
Distance: approx 48 km / 30 mi

Cross the dam, Eidersperrwerk, onto the luscious green island. There is a watch tower near Katingsiel from which you can take in the beauty of surrounding nature. Visit the information centre in Katingsiel for more information about the national park near Wadden Sea. The red farm house called the “Haubarg” isn’t far from Husum and is worth a visit. Spend the night in Husum.


Day 6: Husum – Niebüll & Surroundings, approx. 55-75 km / 47 miles
Distance: approx 55-75 km / 34-47 mi

You can either cycle along the coast line or take the shorter route directly to Hamburger Hallig and over the dikes to Dagebüll. The ferry to Föhr/Amrum leaves from there. If you like, you can take the train to Niebüll. The fare is payable on-site. There, you can visit the museum of natural history. Stay overnight near Niebüll / Dagebüll. (The luggage transfer service ends there.)


Day 7: Niebüll – Sylt – Niebüll

Board the train with your bike to the island of Sylt. Take a stroll and enjoy the shops in Westerland or explore Hörnum, Kampen, or the island of Lyst by bike. Take the train to Niebüll or take the ferry to Römö and continue from there by bike across the border and back to Niebüll. The fare for the ferry is payable on-site. Accommodations same as day 6.


Day 8: Departure from Niebüll & Surroundings

Turn in your rental bike and depart after breakfast. Travellers are responsible for their own transportation home.
