About the Region

The Sandstone Mountains are a nature lover’s dream come true. The mysterious rock formations, mountain streams gushing out of jagged ravines, the mesas called Lilienstein, mountain peaks rising up from surrounding forest all form the most beautiful setting a traveller could wish for. 

Most visitors take excursions to the fortress, Königstein, and the bastion. The culture, art, and history of the region between Pirna and Meissen are very attractive.
