Day 1: Arrival in Stralsund

Stralsund is a great place to visit, as it is located right on the Baltic Sea. There are two fantastic museums there (Deutsches Meeresmuseum and the Ozeaneum) which exhibit the history of fishing and sea life of the north seas. You can see Germany’s largest aquarium holding over one million litres of water and life-size blue whale and sperm whale models, go through the adventure tunnel and explore the research deck at the Ozeaneum.

Day 2: Stralsund – Island of Hiddensee – Schaprode/Rügen
Distance: approx 25 km / 16 miles

In the morning, take the ferry to the island of Hiddense. The ride takes about 1 ½ hrs. Climb the lighthouse, the “Dornbusch”, and look as far as your eye can see over the island and all the way to Stralsund. In the afternoon, take another ferry to Schaprode on the island of Rügen. Spend the night in Trent/Wittower Fähre.

Day 3: Breege/Juliusruh – Königsstuhl – Sassnitz
Distance: approx 26 km / 16 miles

Get ready for today’s ride uphill to the chalk cliffs! On your way there, visit the chalk museum and the goat and pony farm. Find out all there is to know about chalk cliff formation and the island’s nature at the national park museum, “Nationalpark Zentrum Königsstuhl”. And when you are on the beach you can look for hagstones, or as they are called in German, “Hühnergötter”.

Day 4: Sassnitz - Sellin
Distance: approx 38 km / 24 miles

Cycle through the unique flintstone fields on your way to Prora and Binz. The buildings on the beach at Prora extend over a length of nearly five kilometres / three miles! And if you are a friend of technology, you’ll especially enjoy the railway & technology museum with its many locomotives, old trams, and more. Take the narrow-gauge railway, the “Rasender Roland”, from Binz to Sellin.

Day 5: Day in Sellin

You deserve a break today. The beach at Sellin is a great place to spend the day and go for a swim. However, if the weather does not permit that, you can go to the indoor pool, “Inselparadies”, where the water is nice and warm and there is a large slide. In case you haven’t found a piece of amber on the beach, go to the amber museum and find out how to tell the difference between amber, stones, and glass.
