Sunny Coast – Family Holiday, 5 Days

This tour along the Mecklenburg-Pomeranian Coast was especially designed for children in mind, and for their parents and grandparents too, of course. The stretches are short and allow plenty of time for playing, visiting interesting sights, and taking breaks.

Day 1: Arrival in Warnemünde/Rostock

Warnemünde is a lovely place to visit. International cruise ships dock there. Some of them are as high as a five-story building and over 200 m / 656 ft long. Check out the terminal where cruise ships dock.

Day 2: Warnemünde - Fischland Peninsula
Distance: approx 28 km / 17 mi

If you want to find out more about amber, then visit the amber museum in Ribnitz-Damgarten. Visit the beekeeper nearby if you’d like to see how honey is made. Cycle back to the coast and to your hotel.

Day 3: Fischland - Darss and Zingst
Distance: approx 22 km / 14 mi

Cycle through the Darss Forest and to Zingst. There are a lot of interesting things to see about the regional animal and plant life at the museum, “Darsser Arche”. The beach at Prerow is also a must-see. The water is crystal clear and shimmers a light blue to turquoise and dark blue colour. It almost looks like the water you would find on the Carribean coast. Continue to Zingst.

Day 4: Zingst - Barth - Stralsund
Distance: approx 12-50 km / 7-31 mi

The last stretch of your tour takes you through the land of cranes and migrating birds. Cycle to Barth and along the coast to Stralsund. You can visit the Crane Information Centre on the way. If you and your family like, you can take the train from Barth to Stralsund. This allows more time to spend at the oceanographic museums (Ozeaneum & Meeresmuseum), to visit the famous ship, the “Gorch Fock”, and go to the indoor water park, “Hansedom”.

Day 5: Departure from Stralsund

Before you return home after breakfast, be sure to visit the Ozeaneum if you haven’t already. It’s very fascinating! Or you can cycle to the island of Rügen.
