Day 1: Arrival in Cottbus
Welcome to Cottbus! Cottbus is a small city with lots to offer. It is very green and has many parks. Have fun at Elias Park, Spreeauen Park, and the Zoo. Finish off your day by going bowling, to the cinema, or the children’s theatre, and having a yummy meal at the Old Town square.
Day 2: Cottbus – Vetschau
Distance: approx 28 km / 17 mi
Cycle to Germany’s largest village. You deserve to take a break at the adventure playground in the park, “Kur- und Sagenpark”. If you get thirsty, order a cool, fizzy drink at the old Spree Forest train station. A small train will bring it right to you at your table. There’s a swimming pool in Vetschau, if you’re in the mood. Spend the night in or near Vetschau.
Day 3: Vetschau - Lübbenau
Distance: approx 25 km / 16 mi
Cycle to the Raddusch Slavic Fort. There is a labyrinth and a farm that invites you to come see all the animals. Continue cycling along streams and rivers through the thick forest until you reach the small village of Lehde on the lagoon. Visit the Spree Forest Aquarium and then spend the night in or near Lübbenau.
Day 4: Lübbenau – Lower Spree Forest (Unterspreewald)
Distance: approx 29-33 km / 18-21 mi
There are 5 harbours in Lübben. Take a boat ride or rent a paddle boat with your family. Cycle to Schlepzig, the prettiest village in the Lower Spree Forest. Go to the farmer museum where you can enjoy a yummy piece of home-baked cake and learn how to spin yarn. Do you think you could spin straw into gold like Rumpelstiltskin? Spend the night in Schlepzig or Krausnick.
Day 5: Unterspreewald - Lübben
Distance: approx 17-23 km / 11-14 mi
On your way to Lübben, cycle uphill to Lake Köthen and speed downhill on the other side. Or cycle to the “Tropical Islands” instead, an indoor water park and one of the world’s largest water parks. It is over 107 m / 351 ft high and as large as eight soccer fields! Have an awesome time on its slides and white beach, in its lagoon, rain forest, and kids club. Spend the night in Lübben.
Day 6: Lübben - Burg
Distance: approx 32 km / 20 mi
Build a raft in the waterpark, “Schlossinsel”. Cycle on the Gurken (cucumber) Cycle Route. Take a break at the “Holländermühle” (Dutch Mill) and enjoy some quark with fresh cold-pressed laxseed oil to give you the energy you need for the rest of the day.
