The Elbe River Cycle Route actually starts in Špindleruv Mlýn, a famous winter sport town in the Czech Republic. But in Germany, it runs north from the Sandstone Mountains (near Dresden and Prina) to the Wadden Sea at Cuxhaven.
The route is over 850 km / 528 mi long and runs through fascinating river landscape. Dresden, Meissen, the "Luther City" of Wittenberg, Dessau, Magdeburg, Wittenberge, Lauenburg, Hamburg, and Cuxhaven are all situated near the route.
