Day 1: Arrival in Bolzano
Travellers are responsible for their transportation to Venice. Tour presentation and retrieval of rental bikes upon arrival. Spend the night in Bolzano.
Day 2: Bolzano – Trento
Distance: approx. 65/70 km
Follow the Etsch River and cycle through orchards to Salorno where the German-speaking South Tirol ends. The trails over dams take you to Trento where the historic Old Town is worth seeing. Spend the night in Trento.
Day 3: Cat. I: Trento – Ala /Rivalta
Distance: approx. 50 km
Cat. II: Trento – Lake Garda, approx. 50 km / 31 mi + Ferry
Cat. I: The Etsch Valley gets more narrow and impressive old fortresses which once kept watch over the important trade route can be seen on the majestic mountain range. Rovereto as well as the Mozart town of Ala are a must-see. Continue on the cycle route to Rivalta and spend the night there.
Cat II: Follow the Etsch River to Rovereto and Mori. Then go west in direction Lake Garda. After the short incline cycle downhill towards the lake, the commune of Torbole and Riva. Enjoy the boat ride along the entire length of the lake. Spend the night.
Day 4: Cat. I: Ala /Rivalta – Verona
Distance: approx. 60/35 km
Cat. II: Lake Garda - Verona, approx. 50 km / 31 mi
Cat I: Follow the Etsch River on the well built cycling trail to Verona and spend the night there.
Cat. II: Parts of the stretch are flat, parts are slightly hilly on your way through vineyards to Verone, a city full of sights to see (Arena die Verona, Casa di Giulietta, and the old city wall). Ask us about a city tour for groups. Spend the night in Verona.
Day 5: Verona – Venice
Distance: approx. 70 km
The first part of today’s stretch is flat, then hilly in the Berici Hills. The view onto the city of Venice is fantastic. If you would like to shorten today’s stretch, you can take the train to San Bonifacio. (A transfer to San Bonifacio is included in the guided group tour.) The Medieval architect, Palladio, still lives through his architecture in the Old Town of Venice. Spend the night in Venice.
Day 6: Venice – Abano Terme
Distance: approx. 45 km
There are numerous villas on your way out of Venice, such as the Rotonda. Follow the Bacchiglione River to Abano Terme, one of Italy’s most famous spa towns. You can take the bus from there to Padua, the city of the holy St. Anthony. There is also ample time to enjoy the thermal baths. Spend the night in Abano Terme. (There is a surcharge for accommodations in Padua instead of Abano Terme - only possible on independent tours.)
Day 7: Abano Terme – Venice / Mestre / Marghera
Distance: approx. 40 km
There is often a slight tailwind on the stretch towards the sea. The landscape is characterised by fields and meadows. Today’s destination is on the mainland near Venice. From there, you can take a bus to the lagoon city. (City tour and evening meal in Venice included in guided group tour.) Spend the night.
Day 8: Departure from Marghera / Mestre
Depart after breakfast unless you have booked an extended tour in Marghera / Mestre. Travellers are responsible for their homeward transportation.
