Day 1: Arrival in Rostock
Rostock is the perfect location for the start of your tour to the Danish islands. Travellers are responsible for their transportation to the start hotel in Rostock.
Day 2: Rostock – Nykøbing
Distance: approx. 42 km
During the course of the morning, cycle or take the commuter train (fare payable on-site) to the harbour. Take the ferry to Gedser. The ferry ride takes approx. 2 hours. Cycle to Marielyst and Nykøbing. Many artists, small galleries and museums invite you to stop in on your way to Nykøbing. Spend the night there.
Day 3: Nykøbing – Næstved
Distance: approx. 78 km
Follow the cycle route on the island of Falster and cross the brigde to Vordingborg to reach Zealand. Today's stretch takes you to Naestved, one of the country's oldest cities. Take an excursion to the Gavnø Castle and experience history, art, and nature. The castle park has a beautiful rose garden and many rare plant and tree species. You may also want to visit the "BonBon Land" and the world famous glass company, "Holmegaard Glasvaerk". Spend the night in or near Naestved.
Day 4: Næstved – Korsør
Distance: approx. 65 km
Cycle northwest through the Great Belt where everyone is in a great holiday mood. Swimming areas, restaurants and cafés characterise the surroundings. Karesbaekstorp is filled with art galleries. Before continuing to Korsør, enjoying some freshly smoked fish in the smokehouse is a must. Spend the night in or near Korsør.
Day 5: Korsør-Ringsted
Distance: approx. 50-57 km
Just West of Slagelse you will find an excellent replica from Viking times, the Trelleborg. Your destination is Ringsted. It was somehow the capital of Zeland in the Middle Age, since the famous "Thing" court was held here. Overnight in or near Ringsted.
Day 6: Ringsted – Roskilde
Distance: approx. 45-70 km
Your cycling tour takes you to the coast and fjords at Roskilde today. First, Iselfjord, then Roskildefjord. The tombs of many Danish kings and queens are found in the Roskilde Cathedral. If you like, follow the Vikings as you row or sail across the fjord in a Viking replica. Spend the night in or near Roskilde.
Day 7: Roskilde – Copenhagen
Distance: approx. 44 km
Today’s stretch, the last stretch of your tour, is a little shorter and takes you back to the capital. Spend the afternoon in a quaint café or visit the Tivoli Gardens. Turn in your rental bike and enjoy your evening. Overnight in Copenhagen.
Day 8: Departure from Copenhagen
Travellers are responsible for their transportation homeward. You can take the train from Copenhagen to Hamburg or to Gedser, and then the ferry to Rostock, if you are travelling home from Germany.
