Day 1: Arrival in Hamburg

Day 2: Hamburg - Lauenburg
Distance: approx. 54 km
Cycle on beautiful trails along the river and through vast green marsh lands. The city of Lauenburg is adorned with timber-framed houses from the 16th and 17th centuries. You may want to visit the maritime museum there. Spend the night in Lauenburg.
Day 3: Lauenburg - Hitzacker
Distance: approx. 54 km
Today’s stretch takes you through Bleckede to Hitzacker. The view across the river is fantastic. The hills, steep river banks, and slopes are a great contrast to the otherwise flat landscape. Visit the Elbe Castle in Bleckede and possibly the Art Deco Tile Museum, “Fliesenmuseum”, in Boizenburg. Spend the night in Hitzacker.
Day 4: Hitzacker - Wittenberge
Distance: approx. 77 km
Cycle through the UNESCO biosphere reserve, “Flusslandschaft Elbe”, to Dömitz, Gartow, and Wittenberge. Admire one of the most remarkable fortifications in Northern Europe in Dömitz and the timber-framed houses and small fortress in Lezen. Today’s destination is the small town of Wittenberge. Spend the night there.
Day 5: Wittenberge - Havelberg
Distance: approx. 39 km
Continue today through the district of Prignitz on trails along dikes and the Elbe River. Rühstädt is unique in that storks nest there more than in any other place in Germany. Today’s destination is Havelberg, one of the oldest bischoprics East of the Elbe. You can see the Romanic-Gothic church from the distance. Stay the night in Havelberg.
Day 6: Havelberg - Tangermünde
Distance: approx. 56 km
You will probably want to take your time exploring the church and Old Town before continuing on your tour. Cycle through the Altmark district, and on your way, enjoy the historic part of Arneburg and the glorious view onto the river. If you like history, you may want to visit the Bismark Museum in Schönhausen. A ride to the other side of the river on the reaction ferry is a special experience. Spend the night in Tangermünde.
Day 7: Tangermünde - Magdeburg
Distance: approx. 75 km
Tangermünde is surrounded by an impressive city wall with many towers and gates. Continue to Buch with its Roland statue and Dutch wind mill. Before reaching Magdeburg, you may want to visit the lock in Hohenwarte. Cycle the last miles of your tour, going south through Elbe meadows into Downtown Magdeburg and spend the night there.
Day 8: Departure from Magdeburg
Depart after breakfast. Travellers are responsible for their homeward transportation.
