Day 1: Arrival in Stralsund
Arrive in Stralsund with enough time to stroll through the historic Old Town. Enjoy a walk down the promenade and enjoy the view across the sound to the island of Rügen. Spend the night in Stralsund.
Day 2: Hiddensee - Wittow
Distance: approx. 15-21 km, 3-5h
Take the ferry in the morning to Hiddensee and explore the island by foot. Walk through heath on your way from Neuendorf to Vitte and Kloster. In the afternoon, take an enjoyable boat ride to the Wittow Peninsula where you will spend the night.
Day 3: Cape Arkona
Distance: approx. 25 km, 6h
Walk along the craggy coast to the northern cape of the island. Parts of the stretch take you along the sandy beach. Look out onto the Baltic Sea for miles and miles from the old hill fort, Jaromarsburg. Accommodations same as Day 2.
Day 4: Jasmund National Park, Beach & Calk Cliffs
Distance: approx. 11-17 km, 2-3,5h km
You can either walk along the bay or on the beach on the spit of land to Glowe where cafés and restaurants invite you for a nice meal or snack. Take the bus from Glowe to Hagen near the “Königstuhl” (fare payable on-site). Continue your excursion along the craggy coast through Jasmund National Park to Sassnitz where you will spend the night.
Day 5: Seaside Resort Town of Binz & the “Granitz”
Distance: approx. 13 km, 3h
After breakfast, take a ferry to Binz (fare payable on-site), passing the beach at Prora on your way. Stroll the promenade in Binz. There are many cafés, restaurants, and shops waiting for you! Start in Binz and hike to Jagdschloss Granitz (hunting chateau). The view from the tower is breath-taking. Stay overnight in Binz/Sellin.
Day 6: Seaside Resort Towns of Sellin, Baabe, & Göhren
Distance: approx. 12-15 km, 3-4,5km
Walk through the woods of the “Granitz” to Sellin, along the craggy coast to the beach at Baabe, and through the Baabe Heath to Göhren. Walk south for as long as your feet can carry you on the Mönchgut Peninsula. You can take the narrow gauge railway, the “Rasender Roland”, from Göhren back to Binz/Sellin (fare payable on-site). Accommodations same as day 5.
Day 7: The “White Royal Town” of Putbus
Distance: approx. 12-18 km, 3-4h
Today, walk through the “Granitz” again, but along the Greifswald Bay (Bodden) to Putbus. If you like, you can take the “Rasender Roland” (fare payable on-site). Enjoy the beautiful surroundings as you walk directly alongside the bay. Take the train from Putbus to Stralsund and spend the night there.
Day 8: Departure from Stralsund
Your beautiful walking tour of Rügen ends today after breakfast. Extended stay possible. Travellers are responsible for their homeward transportation.
